All:

I decided to create a quick windows loader that didn't use scripts to load the mp3 files into the m:robe database. It is still in testing, only a few hours old actually, but it is working pretty well. I wanted to post here and see if anyone had suggestions that they would like to see in it. After I'm finished testing it, I'll post it for all to use.

More to come soon.

Latest Version: v.33

Finally, someone who can actually code rather than script.

I'm sure we'll be seeing alot more 3rd party apps from now on.

Do you have a 500i or a 100? Did you figure out if the 100 will accept the longer filenames or do the names need to be a max of 8 characters?

script / code whatever works I reckon :)

i'd love to see a transparent version of the loader... very minimal user interaction just drag and drop.

keep up the great work everyone... so many projects on the go now.

btw, what's it written in?

I have a 500i, so I cannot experiment with the 100. The program is written in VB6. So, it is simple enough. The program is easy to use right now, and has only one button. (very simple) So, that is why I want some requested features. The way it is now, you just drag and drop files into a folder on the unit and then click the button on my program. It will go through and catalog each "album" or folder that is in the main folder. Right now, you have to reindex your entire collection each time. I do not have an append option.

That is about it. Any comments/suggestions welcome.

Thats all the buttons you need.

How about a shuffle playlist button. I was working on a shuffle option to shuffle the msic0001.mum index file but ran into problems when i just moved all the reference #'s around. The file needs to be in sequential order so i'll need to find a way to shuffle the songs while keeping a numbering index system.

i like to keep my songs in random order . The random on the mrobe doesnt work so well and I've noticed that the player does buffer the next song if it is order.

Yeah, whats up with that? I have 300 songs. And after about a total of 3 hours of use on "Random". I started to hate 5 of my favorite songs, because I must have heard them at least 4 times each. This thang can't randomize very well.

Ok, I have finished testing the new m:terpreter program. Simply put all of your mp3's into one folder on the m:robe. Right now, it will only allow you to use sub-folders to store your mp3's and albums. (No multi-disc/multi-folder support). m:terpreter is about as simple and basic as it gets, so if it works for you, GREAT! I'm not going to spend a lot of time on this unless people are actually going to use the program. If you have a suggestion, let me know, and I'll see about adding in new features.

It was written in VB6, so you may need the VB6 Runtime DLL's installed before it will run.

The m:terpreter will not rename your mp3 files. I do not know if it will work for the 100, since I only have a 500.

Beware that it will erase all of your index/database files on the m:robe and replace them with the new ones. So, if you are worried about your existing index/database, then you might want to back it up.

Enjoy!

Are you using the .007 version?

You need to have a single folder on the drive called "music" or something. Under that, you will have a subfolder for each album or group of songs. m:terpreter will then index each song in the subfolders.

It will NOT read songs that are just thrown into the root "music" folder.

Hope this helps!
