I've got opie-linux installed and working thanks to this guide and RK advising me.

I have 2 questions.

1) I notice screenshots other people send in of Drawpad application showing the toolbars on the shorter side of the mr500 screen. Mine's on the longer side. How do I change mine to go on the shorther side?

2) Next time I sync with mTrip....since there are REMIX files on mTrip REMIX library....would that mean that mTrip resynccing will make opie NOT work anymore as the svg files will revert back to the original ones from my remix? And if so, to get linux working again, what would I need to do? Should I save out the 2 exploited svg files to a permanent place on my PC somewhere now so that I can paste them back in later every time I sync with mTrip?

thanks for the thread cat/shirour

Don't know, try just unzipping into mrobe drive. NO, forget that, don't do it, until someone more skillful advises you.

What new applications does opie 1.22 have better than 1.2?

I also have tried to install ScummVM for Opie on the mrobe. But the package manager crashes or does just nothing...
Seems not that easy to add applications to the mrobe opie...

fixable

go to my dummies guide here > http://www.mrobe.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2717

read step 1.4, then ask questions if you don't know what to do.

btw, was it you who voted in the poll there (linux tips dummies guide in GUIDES) that you damaged/errored your mr500...I hope it is you and not another person. If other person or you, could you also post there and say what happened?

ok first I wanted to answer ur question and let you know that it wasnt me that had that previous problem. I tried the whole firmware update but it pointed me towareds putting a background on my mrobe instead of running linux. if you dont mind maybe i need specific steps on what to do. I dont like not finishing things I start and have been working at this all day and night now

crn,

for system error Error code: 00030027 when pressing Remix to start up linux,

try this fix, YOUR RISK THO ok...

Quote:
Cure: Right click on the exploited Fware's svg file(s) and rename them to the ones you had for your original first REMIX file's svg's. First though, you'll have to move the original svgs out of the mrobe into the PC somewhere though to enable rename of the new ones that came in, to the old names you had. Then close down and try booting up again by clicking that first remix. It takes about 2 minutes to boot up btw.

i.e. there are 2 files, .svg files in 2 different folders. The files and folders have to be renamed.

Which means, for you..

1. get mr500 in powered up cradle and usb connect to PC, to get the 'pls do not disconnect screen'. You get that screen don't you?
2a. In the mr500, find the svg file User\Remix\R0000001\R0030001.svg , it may not be exactly R0000001/R0030001 but it's an svg file. If not sure which is the .svg file, right click each one, properties should tell you if it's an svg file. There should be 2 of them. When both are found, rt click, properties, the 3 KB size svg file is the exploited one, leave that alone for now. The other svg file, the larger file size one...cut and paste it onto your computer somewhere you'll remember. Write down the no./name of that svg file ie the R00.......whatever.svg.
2b. Go back into the User\Remix\R00....folder, find that exploited svg file again and rename that file to the same name as the one you cut-pasted onto the PC earlier. You have now half fixed it.

3a. Just like in 2a and 2b, you now need to do the same renaming for a 2nd svg file here > System\Template\T0000001\T0010001.svg. Again the T000..../T0000.... numbers may not be exactly as I've written there. That's fine. Follow step 2a exactly except now it is for the T000....folder/T000....svg file
3b. Follow step 2b except now this is for the T000....folder/T000....svg file.

4. Then close down, ie go to bottom rt of PC screen, click on 'safely remove hardware' icon to remove the mr500 safely. You can take the mr500 off the cradle once you see the mr500 home screen (headphones etc). Take the mr500 off the cradle. When you switch the mr500 on again and get the home screen, click the Remix mode and click the 1st Remix cube/file. It takes about 2 minutes for linux to boot up, the screen being dark all the time it's booting up. So be patient.

That's what I think, good luck and tell us what happened.
