I went through all of the steps, edited the images a bit and successfully created the new BIN file, but then later found out that it wouldn't let me install the firmware because I already had the same version. Is there any way around that, or any way to downgrade the firmware back to 1.0.2 or whatever version was before the newest?

The way to do this is to edit the "firmup.ini" file. Its extracted when you run the firmup.exe
Just change the "check Version" to like "1.05"

I did everything and now have the N5002-BD-NEW.

What exactly do I do with this?

g33k - try downloading the latest version. in my side it works fine.

Basket Case - use the original uploader, but replace their N5002-BD.BIN with yours.

mAzcoRe - how did you modify your jpg file ? it is supposed to be 640x480 after the modification.

just an idea:
i realy don't know if this helps...
maybe photoshop or paintshop changes the resolution. i mean this value which is in pixel/inch or pixel/cm not the size of the pictures.
my m:robe got troubles with some coverarts (which had the correct size pixel x pixel ;) ) and the misstake was having the wrong resolution. pretty unbelivebal but true :D

What is the original uploader?

Do you mean the firmware updater?
How do I add it to that?
