I had it pluged in when my computer shut off because the power went out. Now most of my music just dissapeared from the database but there still some on it (the last files i put on it before my computer shut off), but they dont play. All i get is searched failed and M:trip wont recognize my player.

Just try resyncing with whichever program you use. That should fix the problem.

wow i just re-found my 500i it still runs but hardly. Many songs don't play. I deleted all my photos from windows explorer opps. Clicking the photo icon freezes the player. the remix thing does not work at all. I am on windows 7 and doubt m:trip will work. Is there any way i could start from fresh ?

yay on resurrection :mClapp: :mClapp: :mClapp:

but
yes

1. Copy all your song files out of the mrobe onto any PC

2. have mtrip installed on a windows XP PC.

3. hook up the mr500 to the XP PC.

4. go from there. If it loses all your songs the first time you sync on the XP PC, you still have the files somewhere. Rebuild your new mTrip library and resync.

OR

if an XP PC just does not exist anymore....

...time to think of managing/running your mrobe through Rockbox. ...........

if so ask further.

wow, I put all my music on an external drive (took a really long time) and did as you said but went ahead and tried mtrip on windows 7 64 bit.

to my surprise m:trip seemed stable and did not freeze up. plus it synced fairly quickly and my player now has all my music, the stock music, photos and remix, very strange. now all i need is drag & drop because i do not like full sync.

More than likely I am going to sell this player (now that I know it works) and get a sansa. I am looking for a simple way to transfer songs, such as drag & drop, so that whoever I hand this player over to does not get heckled by mtrip. Does rockbox allow for this? I tried rockbox, the custom firmware did not execute anything for me on windows 7. I would be interested in trying rockbox.

:mClapp: good job

for rockbox with windows 7 you'll have to ask those more experienced in the rockbox thread (DEV forum)

I'm a window 7 x64 user, mine works great under rockbox.

More or less I think everything is easy to setup under windows 7 (provided that you have the exploited firmware (If not you will need to borrow a friend or maybe a public library computer with XP just to run the firmware)

There is a guide in the guides section and nothing other than the firmware requires XP.

good luck
